On 29 May 2012 Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko visited the exhibition of works by Dashi Namdakov, a prominent sculptor from Russia, at Halcyon Gallery in London. Artists, journalists, designers and cultural figures were present at the event. Also among the distinguished guests was Kirill Komarov, the Deputy Director General for Development and International Business at ROSATOM.
The collection includes 45 sculptures and drawings created by the sculptor over the last 12 years and showcases the artist’s extraordinary craftsmanship and highly original style which combines traditional spiritual imagery with present day realities.
On 21 May 2013 the exhibition “Canvas of my soul” of the Russian painter and poet Natalia Ovsienko was opened at the London office of Rossotrudnichestvo.
On 21 May 2013 the meeting of the Business 20 Organizing Committee, comprised of chairmen of the G20 countries entrepreneurs' unions, took place at the Russian Embassy in London. Russia was represented by the President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) and the 2013 B20 Chairman Alexander Shokhin.
On 14-15 May 2013 the Kensington Town Hall hosted 54th International Spring Fair. The Russian Embassy along with other members of London's diplomatic community took part in this charity event.
On 12–15 May the Delegation of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Information Policy of the Council of Federation comprising Gennady Savinov and Lyudmila Bokova visited London.
On 9 May 2013, a wreath laying ceremony took place at the Soviet War Memorial near the Imperial War Museum in London. A reception for the veterans of the Arctic Convoys was held aboard HMS Belfast.
On 3 May 2013 the Russian Ambassador to the UK Alexander Yakovenko visited the city of Stratford-upon-Avon. He met with Keith Lloyd, Mayor of the city, and discussed issues of cultural cooperation and implementation of potential cultural projects in 2014.
Following the agreements set forth in the Declaration on a knowledge-based partnership for modernisation between the UK and Russia signed on 12 September 2011 by President of the Russian Federation and UK’s Prime Minister and bound by the intention to promote the exchange between the Skolkovo innovation centre and the East London Tech City with the view to ensure favourable working conditions for scientific and business quarters, Deputy Prime Minister – Chief of Staff of the Russian Government Vladislav Surkov paid a working visit to London on 1-2 May 2013.
On 29 April 2013 the first Russian-British conference "Challenges of Global Governance: Perspectives from London and Moscow" was held at King's College, University of London. It was organized by the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the King’s College and the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatam House).
On 22 - 24 April 2013 a delegation of the "Russkiy Mir" Foundation including the Executive director of the Foundation Mr. Pyotr Skorospelov and the Director of Foundation’s European programmes Mr. Alexey Gromyko visited Great Britain. During the visit, the delegation attended the opening of the Russian Centre at Durham University, held meetings with representatives of the BritishCouncil and members of the UK Russian Community Council.
