Reception at the Embassy on the occasion of Russia Day

On 9 June 2016 Embassy hosted a reception on the occasion of the National holiday of the Russian Federation – Russia Day. The event was attended by Lords and Members of Parliament, representatives of British institutions, diplomatic corps, journalists, businessmen, cultural figures and artists and Russian community activists.

Ushakov Medal presented to the Arctic Convoys Veterans

On 31 May Attaché of the Embassy Oleg Shor presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr George Frederick Joseph HANCOCK, Mr Alfred Edward SMEDLEY, Mr Leonard Percy CASEY, Mr Alfred George CHAMBERS, Mr Arthur Geoffrey HUNN, Mr Peter John SMALES, Mr Alexander Castel ROTHNEY, Mr Gordon William BARBER and Mr Eric Ivan BAILEY, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

On 27 May Attaché of the Embassy Oleg Shor presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr Kenyon George Coulson MANSFIELD, Mr George Robert Victor WRIGHT, Mr Kenneth George NUNN, Mr George William ADAMS, Mr Douglas Fred ENGLAND, Mr George William WAKEFIELD and Mr Edward Cecil HARMAN, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

Historical plaque dedicated to Tsar Nicholas I unveiled in Scotland

On May 24 in Moffat a commemorative plaque to the Russian Emperor Nicholas I was inaugurated. It is installed in the same hotel where he stayed during the trip to Scotland 200 years ago - in 1816.

Visit to Falkirk

During the visit to Falkerk on 18 of May Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey Pritsepov had a meeting with Provost P.Reid and local councilors C.Martin and E.Mahony. They discussed prospects of regional cooperation.
