The FCO has informed that severe weather is likely to cause travel disruptions across the UK and Europe.Weather warnings have been issued for the majority of the UK and some parts of Europe. Travellers are advised to contact their airlines or travel providers for the latest information before departing, and to allow extra time for their their journey.
BAA has announced a reduced flight schedule for Heathrow Airport for Sunday 5 February, with 70% of flights expected to operate. Some flights to Russian destinations have been cancelled. You can view the revised schedule on the Heathrow airport website.
On May 15, 2012 a reception was hosted by the Scottish Government to honour the veterans of the Arctic Convoys that brought supplies to Murmansk and Archangel during World War II.
The donations from private Russian business and Convoys veterans were presented then for the establishment of the Russian Arctic Convoys Museum in the North of Scotland, and the regional Government’s financial support to the project was announced.

On 14 May 2012, the Russian Ambassador to the UK Alexander Yakovenko met with Lord Mayor of the City David Wootton at the Mansion House.They addressed the issues of further expansion of financial cooperation between the two countries in anticipation of the annual trip of Lord Mayor to Russia as head of a delegation of British businessmen and the third session of the Russian-British working group on establishment of the International Financial Center in Moscow, both due to take place in July.
On 9 May 2012 traditional wreath-laying ceremonies and Remembrance services on the occasion of the Victory Day took place in Dundee and Orkney in Scotland.
In Dundee, the wreaths were laid at the International Submarine Memorial by the representatives of the Russian Consulate General and the Ukrainian Consulate General in Edinburgh, Dundee authorities and veterans organisations. The Russian Orthodox Remembrance service was also held at the Memorial earlier this month. The memorial commemorates the crews of the Allied submarines based in the city during World War II and lost, among them being the Soviet V-1 submarine.

The list of foreign veterans decorated for their personal valour and courage during World War II while taking part in the Arctic Convoys includes 190 Australian, New Zealand, and US citizens.
The medal bears the name of outstanding Russian admiral Fyodor Ushakov (1745–1817).
On 24 April 2012 Ambassador of the Russian Federation Alexander Yakovenko received at the Embassy a delegation of the Government of the Isle of Man headed by Chief Minister Allan Bell. During the meeting a detailed discussion of possible ways of developing diverse exchanges between the Crown dependency and Russia, topical issues of international agenda as well as current state and prospects of the Russo-British dialogue, took place.
