1952 - 1953 - Assistant to the Head of Third European Department (Soviet Union);
1953 - 1957 – First Secretary, Counsellor, Permanent Mission of the Soviet Union to the United Nations in New York;
1957 - 1959 – Deputy of the Permanent Representative of the Soviet Union to IAEA (Vienna);
1959 - 1960 - Permanent Representative of the Soviet Union to IAEA, Member of the Board of Governors (Vienna);
1960 - 1962 – Deputy Head of African Department;
1962 - 1970 - Member of Collegium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Soviet Union), Head of Press Department;
1970 - 1978 – Director General of TASS (Soviet Union);
1978 - 1986 – Head of Press Department, Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union;
1986 - 1991 - Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland;
