Count and Russian diplomat.

In 1705 he was sent to Copenhagen as a secretary of the embassy. In 1720 he was appointed the Minister resident in London. The same year due to his protest against the English-Swedish union concluded in infringement of the Russian-English treaty of 1715, he was deported from England.

In 1721-1726, and also in 1731-1741 - the minister-resident, and later envoy to Sweden.

In 1726-1730, and also in 1744 - the minister-resident to Poland, in 1730-1731 - to Prussia, in 1748-1752 - to Austria.

In Seven-year war 1756-1760 he promoted the Russian-French union as the ambassador to France.
