About visit to the Outer Hebrides

On 29th May 2017 during a visit to the administrative capital of Scotland’s Western Isles region Stornoway the Russian Consul General in Edinburgh Mr Andrey A. Pritsepov met the Convenor of the Outer Hebrides Mr Norman A. Macdonald, with whom subjects of networking in the area of the economy, tourism and culture were discussed. A thorough conversation about the prospects of cooperation in the area of education, as well as teacher and pupil exchange programs. Mr Norman A. Macdonald showed interest in organizing the festival with the participation of Russian musical groups and performers.

During his visit, Mr Andrey A. Pritsepov attended the headquarters of the authorized statutory public body "Harris Tweed Authority," where he had a meeting with the Chairman Mr Norman L. Macdonald, who told about the functions and work done by the organization.

The Consul General also visited the largest tweed factory of "Harris Tweed Hebrides," where he made an acquaintance of the head of the company Mr Brian Wilson and the executive director of the factory Ms Margaret Macleod. Practical issues related to the possibility of holding an exhibition of Scottish textiles in Moscow were discussed. The management of the Scottish textile company was interested in the prospects of entering the Russian market and interaction with the Russian authorities in protecting the "Harris Tweed" trademark. It was agreed to continue contacts.
