Years of life 1713 – 1765.

He was enlisted in staff of the State Board of foreign affairs in October, 1736 at the desire of the Russian envoy to England A.D.Kantemir under the direction of whom Gross worked in London, and since 1738 in Paris.

In 1741 the Gross was appointed secretary of mission in Paris. Since 1744 he was the Charge d’Affaires ad interim, in 1745 – 1748 – the minister plenipotentiary.

In 1749 – 1750 he was the envoy in Prussia, in 1761 – 1764 - in Holland.

In 1763 Catherine II appointed Gross the minister plenipotentiary in London. Gross remained on this post up to his death in 1765.
