On April 22, the Russian Embassy began presenting the jubilee medals “75 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945” to British veterans of the Second World War.
According to the decree of the Russian President, it is awarded to citizens previously presented with one of the Soviet or Russian military awards. First of all, we are talking about British veterans of the Arctic Convoys
from Great Britain to the northern ports of the USSR with much-needed cargo.
The presentation of anniversary medals is aimed at honoring the military merits of British veterans, as well as their contribution to our common victory over fascism. All those people fought against Nazism in the name of truth and justice.
Victory Day is an occasion to recall the sincere military brotherhood of the Soviet and British peoples. The memory of these and other heroic examples of joint combat and mutual support continues to live in our hearts.
