Count, Senator.Since 1752 he worked in a rank of lieutenant at embassy in Vienna. In 1756-1760 he was the Russian resident in Danzig; in 1760-1765 – the plenipotentiary envoy in Hamburg.

In 1765-1768 he was the envoy to Great Britain.

Musin-Pushkin promoted participation of Russian merchants in the external trade relations which were entirely in hands of foreigners and suggested to found in Petersburg a general merchant company like in Britain.

In 1779-1783 Musin-Pushkin was the Russian envoy to Sweden.
