The situation in Syria is undergoing serious transformation. Due to the de-escalation process, it has now become possible to drastically reduce the level of violence, to improve the humanitarian situation as well as to fight terrorists more efficiently. The ISIS-controlled territory is shrinking. On 14-15 September, at the international meeting in Astana all four de-escalation zones were finalized.

During a visit to Aberdeenshire on 29th of September 2017 Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey A.Pritsepov visited the largest company producing cashmere and woolen cloth Johnstons of Elgin where he had a meeting with the management of the company and enjoyed a mill tour.


17.10.2017 - Visit to University of Aberdeen

On 29 of September 2017 during the trip to Aberdeen Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey A.Pritsepov visited University of Aberdeen and met with the Vice-Principal on Internationalization Professor John Paterson. They discussed issues of developing ties with higher educational institutions in Russia and prospects for cooperation in the field of remote medicine. The mutual interest in closer interaction in the training of engineering personnel for science-intensive and high-tech areas was emphasized.

Sir, If British MPs are free to speak out, wherever they wish, on any issue, why try to block their freedom of speech (“Helping Putin”, 11 October)? If a TV channel wants (and is legally bound) to present different points of view, why slam those who express these views? If the mere act of giving an interview to foreign media amounts to high treason, why does The Times interview Russian politicians without fear? And finally - while MPs critical of Russia are welcome guests on the Russian TV channel RT, does your paper give the same treatment to those critical of the paper’s owner? 13.10.2017 - PHOTO: Evening with Professor Valentina Polukhina: Joseph Brodsky and his heritage

On 13 October Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko took part in the event dedicated to the Russian poet Joseph Brodsky, whose prominent scholar Professor Valentina Polukhina has donated her archive of Brodsky papers to the museum of the poet in his native St Petersburg. The evening was hosted by the Russian cultural centre Rossotrudnichestvo and featured talks by Prof. Polukhina, Director of the Museum Mikhail Milchik, deputy editor of Rossiyskaya Gazeta Yury Lepsky, museum volunteer poet Arina Bedrina and the film about Brodsky "A cat and a half".
