Colleagues, friends,
Today, we are celebrating Diplomatic Worker’s Day. First of all, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of our common professional day, no matter where you work, at foreign missions, the Foreign Ministry’s regional offices or the сentral office.
On 9 February 2022, Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrei Kelin gave an interview to RT channel, stressing that admission of Ukraine into NATO is detrimental to European security and totally unacceptable for Russia. From this point, we should come to certain solutions. We do not insist on a dialogue without any goal, because it will lead us nowhere.
The Foreign Office did not cite any evidence to justify its groundless statements. They simply say “We have information” and then use their favourite phrase “highly likely.” Of course, these fakes were debunked in just a couple of hours but they were still able to fan anti-Russia hysteria. We disavowed all of them. Everything is on our website. Against this backdrop, we would like to draw your attention to the tactic used by our colleagues from foggy Albion when they are caught red handed. We don’t simply tell them that “we have information” but rather present to the public authentic documents proving that the Foreign Office, British embassies and other official structures are conducting hostile activities against states.
Russia intends to implement the following first stage of retaliatory measures as part of a package of reciprocal measures announced on February 2 in response to the unfriendly actions by the Federal Republic of Germany, which banned the satellite and other types of broadcasting by the German-language TV channel RT DE.
Ahead of his visit to People’s Republic of China, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin answered questions from China Media Group President and Editor-in-Chief Shen Haixiong.
On the eve of my upcoming visit to China, I am pleased to address directly the large Chinese and foreign audience of Xinhua, the world's largest news agency.
On 2 February 2022, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Boris Johnson.
On 2 February, 2022 Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrei Kelin met with members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Russia of the UK Parliament.
You are well aware that Russia is seriously concerned about increasing politico-military tensions in the immediate vicinity of its western borders.
Question: Has Moscow responded to the Americans’ written materials that were sent following Russia’s proposals on security guarantees? What was the gist of your telephone conversation today with Antony Blinken? What contacts are planned for the future in this context?
Sergey Lavrov: Today, we heard from the US Department of State that they have allegedly received a response from Moscow to the document that the Americans sent in reply to our initial proposals on security guarantees in Europe.
