Ushakov Medal presented to Veteran of the Arctic Convoys

On 30th August 2016 the Consul General Mr Andrey Pritsepov presented the Ushakov Medal and a personalized officer wrist watch “VOSTOK” to an English Veteran of the Arctic Convoys Mr Richard Aston.

Princess Anne visits Arkhangelsk

During her visit to Arkhangelsk Princess Anne, accompanied by the chairman of the Russian State Duma, Sergei Naryshkin, visited the exhibition "Dervish: Caravans of Victory" at the North Sea Museum and presented a UK state award – the Arctic Star Medal – to the museum.

Arkhangelsk Commemorates 75th Anniversary of First Arctic Convoy

The city of Arkhangelsk is hosting a series of events to mark the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the first Allied Lend-Lease convoy to provide military supplies and food to the USSR in order to bolster the Soviet war effort against the Axis powers.

On 30 August Attaché of the Embassy Oleg Shor presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr Gilbert Denis ARKELL, Mr John Charles SKELLAND, Mr George Richard WESTON , Mr Ernest LANDY, Mr William Arthur REGAN and Mr Alexander Shaw CROWE, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

Visit to the Bailiwick of Guernsey

On 12-14 August counsellor of the Embassy Konstantin Shlykov presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans, resident in the island of Guernsey, Mr Ian Clive MACINTYRE, Harry Lawrence WOLLEY, Ragot Chatterton WOOD, Frederick Levi DARBY, Charles Frederick Thornton POYNDER who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII. Mr Shlykov also held working meetings at the Government of Guernsey and Channel Islands Occupation Society regarding honouring the memory of Soviet citizens who perished in Guernsey between 1941-1945.
