Russian community activists meet in London

On 20 March 2016 the 8th Forum of Russian compatriots in Great Britain took place in London, gathering several dozen representatives from 17 various towns and cities throughout the country, as well as Russian diplomats, local councillors from London boroughs, journalists, cultural personalities.

Reception at Consulate General in Edinburgh on occasion of visit of delegation from SIBUR

On 14th March 2016 the Russian Consulate General in Edinburgh hosted a reception to welcome a delegation of Russia's largest integrated gas processing and petrochemicals company SIBUR. The Consul General Mr Andrey Pritsepov in his opening remarks noted the importance of the optimal apprenticeship programs to train highly qualified professionals, who are required for implementation of innovative technologies.

Meeting with Scottish Wrestlers – participants of the Cossack Competition «Shermitsyii»

On 11 March 2016 Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey A.Pritsepov received a Team of the Scottish Etnosportsmen responsible for arranging traditional Highland Games and training together with the Russian Cossack Vadim Kolganov.

Concert in Glasgow to mark the Centenary of the Birth of the Russian Composer Georgy Sviridov

On 13 March 2016 a memorial Concert to mark the Centenary of the Birth of the great Russian Composer Georgy Sviridov took place at the University of Glasgow. Chamber Choir «Russkaya Capella» directed by Mr.Stuart Campbell and Mrs.Svetlana Zvereva and a Collective of women’s voices «Scottish Voices» directed by Mr.Graham Hair performed at the concert.

Dmitri Kogan performs at the Embassy

One of the most prominent Russian violinists of today, Dmitri Kogan accompanied by Albert Mamriev performed at the Russian Embassy in London on 15 March 2016. The concert, attended by diplomats, business and culture personalities and prominent members of the Russian diaspora, was followed by a reception.

Ushakov Medal presented to the Arctic Convoys Veterans

On 15 March Attaché of the Embassy Oleg Shor presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr Grosvenor DOVE, Mr Mark Robert FARLEY, Mr Philip Anthony FOSTER, Mr Peter Hopper FINDING and Mr Ronald George WATSON, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets visits London

On 14 March Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets visited London to take part in the launch of the exhibition “Russia and the Arts. The age of Tolstoy and Tchaikovsky's” at the National Portrait Gallery, part of the Russia-UK Year of Language and Literature.

Language Live Show – Scotland

On 11 March 2016 diplomats of the Consulate General of Russia in Edinburgh took part in the most significant Language Exhibition in Scotland – «Language Live Show» in Glasgow. As a part of the Russian section the stand by "Scotland-Russia Forum" "Try Russian!" was opened at the exhibition.

Consul General visited Forth Valley College

The Consul General Mr Andrey Pritsepov and the Provost of Stirling Mr Mike Robbins on 10 March 2016 jointly attended professional educational institution Forth Valley College, which had been preparing to receive a delegation of Russia's largest integrated gas processing and petrochemicals company SIBUR.

Greeting of Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko for Maslenitsa festival gala concert

Dear Russian and British friends, I'm honoured to greet you all at this splendid London venue, to mark with the concert the end of Russia's Shrovetide week, Maslenitsa. Once again, like in the previous years, Britain's capital saw the joy of Russian music, dance, cooking - all the traditional Maslenitsa fun. Shrovetide is big in Russia. It's not by chance that the most famous, and also most colourful and largest, painting decorating the Embassy is precisely a depiction of Maslenitsa by the great Russian artist Boris Kustodiev.
