Ushakov Medals presented to British veteran of the Arctic Convoys at the Russian Embassy

On 6 of November October the British veterans of the Arctic Convoys Mr Matthew Swinburn USHER, Mr Kenneth MEDWELL and Mr John William ROBERTS were presented the Ushakov Medals for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII by Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mr. Vadim Retyunskiy.

On expressions of condolences

On 4th November the UK Foreign Secretary The Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP and the Secretary of State for Transport, The Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP visited the Embassy to leave a message in the book of condolences opened in connection with the crash of flight 7K9268 over Egypt. In the past few days hundreds of Britons and Russian compatriots came to sent their condolences to the e-book on our website. People brought flowers, candles and toys to Embassy buildings.

Press release on reception at the Embassy to mark the opening “World Travel Market-2015”

On 2 November the Russian Embassy hosted a reception to mark the opening of the “World Travel Market-2015”, where representatives of various Russian regions (such as Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Tatarstan) participate. In his opening word Mr Ambassador Yakovenko stressed the importance of developing tourism and traveling business for Russian economy and the enormous potential it possesses.

On 29 October Attaché of the Embassy Oleg Shor presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr Stanley Charles BOOBYER, Mr Sydney Raymon HILL, Mr George Robert WATMORE, Mr Bernard Johnson MAINSTONE, Mr Francis Joseph POULTON, Mr Reginald Claude HALL, Mr Ronald Ernest RANK, Mr Samuel George WOODWORTH, Mr Leonard Charles CROSS, Mr Gerald John BIDDISCOMBE and Mr Geoffrey Reid HEMM, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

On 27 October Attaché of the Embassy Oleg Shor presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr Derek Gwyther JONES, Mr Stanley Herbert USHER, Mr Ronald Charles GREEN, Mr Charles Angus MACLUCAS, Mr John William ALLEN, Mr Mervyn James BIRD and Mr Reginald John WYATT, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

On 24 October Third secretary of the Embassy Vitaliy Zubkov presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr John Nestor Dane MEADE, Mr William BELL, Mr William REAY and Mr Alfred John ATKINSON, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

On 19 of October the British veteran of the Arctic Convoys Mr. Ernest William WALDOCK was presented the Ushakov Medals by Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mr. Oleg Shor. On behalf of Mr Waldock the medal was presented to assistant to Ben Wallace MP.

“Crimean Stories” exhibition opened in London

Official opening of the exhibition of the works by young artists “Crimean Stories” has taken place at the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo on October 13, 2015. The exhibition of paintings and graphics was organized by the Charitable Foundation “Russian Arts Help” headed by Olga Nikolayevna Adamishina.
