Diplomats’ Day 2017 in London

On 10 February the Russian embassy hosted a reception to mark the professional holiday of the Russian diplomatic service. A number of Ambassadors, FCO officials, representatives of diplomatic corps and media attended. Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko and former UK Ambassador to Moscow Sir Anthony Brenton addressed the guests.

"Revolution: Russian Art 1917-1932" exhibition opens in London

On 7 February the exhibition "Revolution: Russian Art 1917-1932" marking one hundred years from the 1917 revolution in Russia was launched at the Royal Academy of Arts.

Russian Embassy in London hosts visits

In the run-up to the Russian Diplomats' Day celebrated on 10 February, the Embassy hosted several group visits: students from the Moscow and Kazan Universities, on a trip organized by Eurasian Club System, familiarized themselves with the work of the Embassy and had a Q&A session; committee members of the London International Model United Nations (LIMUN) spoke with us on Russia's foreign policy and Embassy's participation in LIMUN; and teachers, students and their parents from The London School of Russian Language and Literature toured the Ambassador's residence.

About Russian Consul General in Edinburgh Mr Andrey A.Pritsepov visit to manufacturing facilities of Terex Trucks in Motherwell

On 1st February 2017, the Russian Consul General in Edinburgh Mr Andrey A.Pritsepov has visited the haulers and dump trucks manufacturing facilities of Terex Trucks. At the working meeting with the General Manager of Terex Trucks Mr Paul Douglas, the prospects of cooperation with Russian partners and further development of company’s business in Russia have been explored.

Burns Supper in Motherwell&Wishaw Rotary Club

On January, 26th Consul General of Russia Andrey A.Pritsepov took part in the traditional Burns Supper, which was held in Motherwell&Wishaw Rotary Club. As the honorary guest of the event Consul General proposed an Immortal Memory Toast underlining the versatility of Robert Burns’ legacy and the great interest of Russian people towards the work of Scotland’s national poet, whose literary heritage is known and appreciated in Russia due to a talented translation of Samuil Marshak.

On 27 January 2017 a ceremony at the Soviet War Memorial near the Imperial War Museum marked the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko took part in unveiling of Tim Peake's Soyuz spacecraft at Science Museum

On 26 January the spacecraft Soyuz TMA-19M that carried British cosmonaut Tim Peake to and from the International Space Station last year has gone on display at London's Science Museum.

Siege of Leningrad remembered in Cambridge

On 20 January - 19 March 2017 Darwin College in Cambridge hosts an exhibition "Art and endurance in the siege of Leningrad". The exhibition features drawings of Elena Marttila made during the German siege 1941-1944. Alongside the exhibition a rich programme of events, talks and screenings takes place (see http://www.artandendurance.org for full programme)

After three-years search, the Ushakov Medal of the Arctic Convoys Veteran Mr George Longmuir is presented to his family

In the course of a ceremony, held at the Consulate General on 16th January 2017, the Ushakov Medal and a personalized officer wrist watch “VOSTOK” of the Arctic Convoys Veteran Mr George Longmuir, who passed away in November 2013, were presented to his son Don. Don learned of his Father’s highly esteemed Russian military Award through an announcement made in a local newspaper about Consulate’s search for the Scottish Veterans of the Arctic Convoys awarded the Ushakov Medal.
