Ushakov medals presented to British veterans of the Arctic Convoys in Leeds

On 21 October Third Secretary of the Russian Embassy Elizaveta Vokorina, Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mr Oleg Shor, Attaché of the Russian Embassy Elena Gorshkova and Assistant Naval Attaché Commander Dmitry Sharapov presented the Ushakov medals to British veterans of the Arctic Convoys at a ceremony in Leeds.

Tchaikovsky Orchestra starts UK tour with a concert at the Embassy

On 6 October, a concert given by cellist of the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra Fedor Zemlerub with pianist Pavel Kolesnikov and a launch of the book “Medium” celebrating the 85th anniversary of the TSO, marked the start of the UK-wide tour of one of Russia's most important music collectives.

President’s Sambo Cup in Edinburgh

For third time the President's SAMBO Cup was held in the United Kingdom. First tournament was in 2014 took place in London, the second was held in Manchester in 2015. On 25th September teams from Italy, Spain, France, Netherlands, Russia and Scotland met in Edinburgh.

On 27 September, Counsellor of the Embassy Konstantin Shlykov presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr Francis William HEIGHINGTON, Mr Thomas HEDLEY, Mr George Edgar LOMAX, Mr William DELANEY, Mr John Robert BROOK, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

On 21st September 2016 Veteran Mr David Craig, who had attended the 75th Anniversary Celebrations of the first Arctic Convoy (codename Dervish) to Archangelsk visited the Consulate General.

Tribute Paid to WWII Allied Submariners at the Dundee International Submarine Memorial in Scotland in Dundee

On September 10, 2016 Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey A. Pritsepov together with Lord Provost of Dundee Bob Duncan and Consuls General of other Allied countries took part at the annual Remembrance Service at the Dundee International Submarine Memorial. The annual ceremony hosted by Dundee City Council was also attended by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant Charles Webster, representatives of the Royal Navy and veterans associations.
