Exhibition about World War II Russian Airmen in Scotland opened in Montrose

On 10 May 2017 exhibition "The Russians in Scotland" was opened in Montrose. The exhibition casts light on one of the lesser known pages of the World War II – the secret mission of the Soviet pilots who brought British transport airplanes from Scotland to the USSR.
The exhibition was put together by the enthusiasts from Russia and Scotland led by Ms Anna Belorusova, the granddaughter of Petr Kolesnikov, one of the pilots who took part in the mission. It is hosted by the Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre.
The audience was addressed by the Lord Lieutenant of Angus Mrs Georgina Osborne, Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Mr Andrey A.Pritsepov and relatives of the Soviet airmen.

Collector’s edition of the Illustrated Chronicles of Ivan the Terrible presented to University of Glasgow

On 15th September 2017 at the celebrations of the centenary of the Russian studies at the University of Glasgow on the instructions of the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Sergey Lavrov Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Mr Andrey A.Pritsepov presented the Illustrated Chronicles of Ivan the Terrible also known as the “Tsar Book” to the University of Glasgow. In his speech Mr Pritsepov said that this literary masterpiece provided a rare opportunity for the contemporaries to reopen the turbulent history of antiquity, exploring it through the eyes of a 16th-century scholar.

Ambassador Yakovenko took part in the grand opening of “Scythians” exhibition at the British Museum

On 12 September Ambassador Dr Alexander Yakovenko took part in the grand opening of the exhibition "Scythians: warriors of Ancient Siberia" at the British Museum. The exhibition, presenting to the British public the cultural heritage of the ancient people who lived in Eurasia from the Black Sea to Siberia and Central Asia for the first time in 40 years, is the result of the cooperation of the British Museum with the State Hermitage (St. Petersburg).

Tribute Paid to WWII Allied Submariners at the Dundee International Submarine Memorial in Scotland in Dundee

Following the annual tradition on September 9, 2017 Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey A. Pritsepov together with Lord Provost of Dundee Ian Borthwick and representatives of the consular corps took part at the annual Remembrance Service at the Dundee International Submarine Memorial. The annual ceremony hosted by Dundee City Council was also attended by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant Charles Webster, representatives of the Royal Navy and veterans associations.

Memorable gifts are presented to Scottish Veteran of Arctic Convoys

On 4h April 2017, the Russian Consul General in Edinburgh Mr Andrey A.Pritsepov handed over to a WWII Veteran who took part in the Arctic Convoys, Mr Eric Wallace Lloyd, a set of memorable gifts created on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the first Arctic Convoy calling Archangelsk.

Russian jewellery brands presented in London

On 4 September 2017 International Jewellery London fair hosted a presentation of Russian brands under the auspices of “Made in Russia” E20 stand. ARGENTOV, RINGO, RUSSKIYE SAMOTSVETY, CHAMOVSKIKH, KABAROVSKY, TREASURE HOUSE, ECHO, ALDZENA presented their state-of-the-art works to the world elite of jewellery professionals. The exhibition is open until 5 September at Olympia London.

Officer's wrist watch "VOSTOK" and other commemorative gifts presented to the Scottish veteran of the Arctic Convoys Mr Edwin Leadbetter

On July 12 2017 Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey A. Pritsepov handed over to a WWII Veteran who took part in the Arctic Convoys Mr Edwin Leadbetter with a personalized officer's wrist watch "VOSTOK" commissioned to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Victory in World War II as well as a set of the commemorative gifts commissioned last year to mark the 75th anniversary of the first Convoy codenamed Dervish.

Winners of Russian Heritage competition visit the Embassy

On 26 June the winners of childrens drawing and essay competition of the Russian Heritage committee, their parents and participants of the Russian Heritage scientific conference (held 27 June) visited the Russian Embassy in London. They had an opportunity to see the historic building and meet the Ambassador Dr. Alexander Yakovenko, after which the competition winners were presented their awards.

Reception at the Consulate General of Russia in Edinburgh on the occasion of Russia Day

On 12 June 2017 a diplomatic reception on the occasion of the National Day of Russia was hosted by the Consulate General of Russia in Edinburgh. The event was attended by the representatives of the Scottish Parliament and Government, consular corps, local authorities, business, academia and Russian community, as well as the Veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the Arctic Convoys.
