Embassy hosts Russo-British Chamber of Commerce reception

On 24 May 2017 the Russian Embassy hosted a reception on the occasion of the annual Russo-British Chamber of Commerce (RBCC) Business Forum opening.

Abrau-Durso and Vedernikov winery stands, presented at London Wine Fair were also set at the Embassy.

Reception at the Consulate General of Russia in Edinburgh on the occasion of Russia Day

On 12 June 2017 a diplomatic reception on the occasion of the National Day of Russia was hosted by the Consulate General of Russia in Edinburgh. The event was attended by the representatives of the Scottish Parliament and Government, consular corps, local authorities, business, academia and Russian community, as well as the Veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the Arctic Convoys.

Rare photo presented to the Russian Embassy

On 26 May Mr. Roland Kedge presented a rare photo of Vladivostok from 1890 to the Russian Embassy. The photo, property of his family, was certified as original by the National Maritime Museum. It will be passed to the Town Hall of Vladivostok later this month.

Russian Fair 2017 in Belfast

On 21 May Belfast Waterfront and Ulster Hall hosted Русская Ярмарка 2017 / Russian Fair 2017 . With support of the Lord Mayor's office (the guests were greeted by Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr Campbell and Russian Honorary Consul Duchess of Abercorn) Russian schools and theatres, as well as artistic groups of the Ukrainian, Lithuanian and other communities gave a performance for hundreds of spectators. Fair of traditional gifts from CIS and Baltic countries, old Russian vehicles display and Russian language taster sessions were also popular with the visitors. On the previous day, 20 May, the First Russian School Belfast took part in the Slavic Writing Day in Armagh with the Bulgarian community, and first ever round table of Russian community associations was held in Belfast.

Wreath laying ceremony at Arctic Convoys Memorial in Loch Ewe

On 7th May 2017, a solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Arctic Convoys Memorial in the Cove, Loch Ewe, on the occasion of the 72nd Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. It was Loch Ewe where many vessels that would travel to and from the Soviet Union were stationed during the war.

Exhibition about World War II Russian Airmen in Scotland opened in Montrose

On 10 May 2017 exhibition "The Russians in Scotland" was opened in Montrose. The exhibition casts light on one of the lesser known pages of the World War II – the secret mission of the Soviet pilots who brought British transport airplanes from Scotland to the USSR.

The Consul General Mr Andrey Pritsepov conveyed President's greetings to the Veteran of the Great Patriotic War

On 11th May 2017, the Russian Consul General in Edinburgh Mr Andrey Pritsepov had a meeting with the Russian Veteran of the Great Patriotic War Mrs Natalya I.Black, to whom he conveyed the congratulations of the President of the Russian Federation on the occasion of the Victory Day.

On the opening of the new Arctic Convoys Museum in Aultbea

In the framework of the commemorative festival in Pool-Ewe arranged by the Russian Arctic Convoy Project on 7th May this year an opening of a new Museum of the Arctic Convoys took place in Aultbea in the bay of Loch-Ewe.

On arrival of a training ship from St Petersburg "Yunyi Baltiets" to Scotland

In the framework of the commemorative festival in Pool-Ewe arranged by the Russian Arctic Convoy Project this year a training ship from St Petersburg "Yunyi Baltiets" with 47 cadets onboard, students of the Maritime Technical College named in honour of Admiral Senyavin, came to Loch-Ewe on 5th May.
