30.05.2014 - Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko met Director London Academy of Diplomacy

On 29 May Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko received Professor Dr Joseph Mifsud, Director London Academy of Diplomacy, University of East Anglia, at the Residence. Professor presented his views on the results of the Global University Summit which he attended (Moscow, 24-25 April). They also discussed different issues of the Russian-British cooperation in the sphere of international relations, diplomacy, science and education.

27.05.2014 - Comment by the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the cease-fire agreement in Mali

Moscow welcomes the cease-fire agreement, which was signed on the 23 May between the Mali Government and the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad, the High Council for the Unity of Azawad and the Arab Movement of Azawad, which oppose it, through the mediation of the Current President of the African Union, the President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, and the head of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali, Albert Koenders.

An award ceremony for the members of the Russian national ice hockey team – the 2014 World Champions – was held in the Grand Kremlin Palace.

Vladimir Putin took part in the plenary session of the 18th St Petersburg International Economic Forum. The Forum is taking place this year under the theme of Sustaining Confidence in a World Undergoing Transformation.

On 21 May 2014, Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko met with Greenwich Observatory team headed by Dr Kevin Fewster, Director, Royal Museums Greenwich. Issues of cultural and scientific cooperation were discussed at the meeting.


22.05.2014 - Russian Embassy representative Alexander Kramarenko visits FCO regarding the Prince of Wales’ remarks

On 22 May, Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy Alexander Kramarenko visited the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and stated that Moscow had taken notice of media reports regarding the remark made by Prince Charles in what had been claimed to be a private conversation during his visit to Canada.
